Amelia shouting down to the stairs at bedtime, "Come on, Daddy. Vamonos!"
Calla is heard to say in her sweetest big sister voice, "You can use those as long as you want, until I ask for them back."
Calla jabs, "Amelia, all you like to eat is cheese. Grilled cheese. Cheese tacos. Plain cheese..." Amelia answers without skipping a beat, "No, I like cake, too. Cake isn't cheese."
What did you learn about in Sunday School this morning, Melie?" "About Jesus healing the leopards..., " she replied.
"Nora Kate, what are you doing?," I call. Amelia answers, "She's ok. She's not chewing or choking on anything. She's just playing with the garbage."
While watching the very first episode of Lassie, Amelia asked, "Why is it all gray?"
Amelia recognizes the letter "A" as being her name. While traveling through a store, she spotted an "A". "Look, it's my name. Amelia Bedelia Dawn Veldman."
After pointing to several cars - "There goes a corvette." "There goes a racing trailer."- an ambulance drove by and Amelia says, "There goes a breaking your leg car."
When I pointed to Amelia's ear and asked what it was for... "To hear you talking." "What is your mouth for?" "To eat candy." "What is your nose for?" "To get boogies out!"
Calla, please tell me I didn't hear you correctly..."Mom, Amelia has your stick things for your ears(q-tips). She's dipping a handful of them in the toilet water and putting them in her mouth."
"Amelia, please stand up so Momma can wash you off." "Wait, Momma, my hot dogs are cooking in the water."
Calla informed us, "Cattle is a whole flock of cows." Then asked, "Does Mexico have anything more than donkeys and horses?" How random!
"Amelia, please get your panties on." "Where are my panties, Momma?" "They're on your head."
After running towards Amelia who had escaped from the playland... "You need to stay where Momma can keep you safe." She responded, "Where you were?" Umm, I didn't go anywhere.
Ahh! the joys
Trying to find joy in each day should be easy.
My children, my greatest blessing, provide me joy daily.
I just have to remember not to miss it.
Frustration or joy.
Clean-up or joy.
Fear or joy.
Annoyance or joy.
Always enough joy, never enough patience to "en-joy" it.
